I'm back!

Without getting any darker!!

To hell with Banana Boat Protective Tanning Oil, it didn't work!

I applied extremely generously onto all areas and I stayed out in the sun for as long as I can but NO! Not even sunburn..brr!

Quite frustrated so I'm not going to blog about this trip, there's nothing much to blog about anyway.

Shinyi, I went to a place where Muan would prefer to stay home than to go, PD as in Port Dickson in case you forgot. HEHE!

There were more Malays than seashells and yes the water was disgusting, I didn't even get into the water.

I want to get tanned! And so I will be, for the coming trip to Redang on 12th May.

Will be going with the family for 3D/2N. This will be my second time to Redang and I will make sure I stay in the sun whenever I can, lol.

Not sure about the details yet because we are going with mom's colleague family. I was told that we are going there by car, I know, I'm speechless. Gosh it's going to take us at least 8 hours?? Sigh... Also, don't know where we will be staying. I stayed in Redang Bay Resort the last time I went, this time round I guess it's some Berjaya resort. Better.

So, that's about it. Will be busy for tomorrow as I will be going to Presbyterian Churches 25th 125th Years Anniversary celebration lunch in Sunway Convention Centre.

My new semester starts 2nd May, how fast time flies! And I'm dead busy on 2nd May too! Have to go down to ING for the costume fitting. Friday will be the last rehearsal/trainning and Saturday is the day already~!

Will update in details when I can.

Cheeeeers =)

Heart Attack!

Double heart attack!

OMG. I did some changes to my blog template which I am not really sure of, just to try it out but when I clicked to preview it, I see nothing. Just a blank page.

And then I undo the changes and put the actual html code back into where it was supposed to be and save template changes, republished and when I view my blog on another window, BLANK!

YH said blogger is having some problem now because she can't view her blog sidebar and when her friend asked her to refresh, she sees it again.

I tried to refresh my page umpteenth times but I still see nothing.

I tried browsing other blogs and theirs function pretty normally.

Oh God, WHY??

Why just this one day when I want to just stop blogging for once and you do this to me?

**Ya, you see I was planning to blog to say that I won't be blogging for today but look what I'm doing now? I'm suppose to blog that I won't be blogging but now I'm blogging to tell people that I won't be blogging but at the same time I'm blogging because blogger is having problem and my blog has gone BLANK!**

Oh God, please please please help Blogger and whoever is playing that...that mouse in blogger there blanking away my page, please enlighten him/her that this is not the right thing to do to torture the poor mind and soul of a helpless young little girl. Oh please God, enlighten him/her and show him/her the light and lead the right path for him/her to salvation, or.....or to a better entertainment like visiting my blog instead of blanking away my page....or...or....visit Pink Is The New Blog and have a good laugh over those celebrities or....or...visit any blogs I linked there at my sidebar. Cely the chipmunk is good and also Kenny Sia's Thailand trip was brilliant! Thank you Lord for hearing my prayers. Amen.

+++++ Update +++++

Oh wow, God answered my prayers. Amen! Just after I posted this entry and tried to click to view my blog in a new window *barely opening my eyes, for I do not wish to face the horrid truth* I can view my page again!

Hooray!

Hard-hearted blog princess

Once again proves that she's nothing more worthwhile to read other than her bimbotic self-indulgent posts of sponsored trips to clubbing pictures with massive photoshop correction and rounded corners.

When I first started reading her blog, I used to like her for her creativity and how she can always make things sound funny.

But recently, she is far from being able to call herself a full time blogger because she only posts once every week and sometimes only with loads of pictures. I noticed that people have slowly stopped reading her blog through the comments that they left, saying that her blog is getting more and more boring.

On 16th April 2006, she finally announces that she has nothing interesting to blog and you should really read through all those 178 comments her readers have left even though her entry only consists of 3 lines.

On 17th April 2006, she again pisses people off by complaining that 11:37am is too early a time to wake up on a Monday morning. Also, she defends herself of not being a SPG for dating Mike (her caucasian bf) which of course leads to a great argument in her comment box.

YH once told me that her comment box is even more interesting than her actual post itself, in which I totally agree because I read 50% of her post but 100% of her comment box. Sometimes it's amusing to read just how much her fans are blindly supporting her and also all those arguments.

4 days ago, she told the world that she is losing her ability to blog which in return got YH's sarcastic shoutout in my shoutbox. I replied to YH saying that blogging is not about talent but of passion. Sometimes I wonder if she writes what she writes just for the sake of traffic and/or to show something to the sponsors.

Anyhow, things just got worse when she wrote something on Darwin's Natural Selection Theory that got herself 189 comments mostly of people completely disagreeing and somewhat disappointed and shocked by her hard-heartedness over the misfortunates.

I can find many reasons for me not going to her blog but yet I still go to her blog when I remember to, simply because I want to know just what more silly stuffs can she comes out with and to see how unreasonable can she gets. Sometimes I laugh, not at her blog entries but at her childishness and her attitude for taking everything she has for granted.

She does not appreciate what she has now, i.e. the earnings from media sponsorships by just blogging when people have to work their butt off to earn a decent living. She's lucky to have what she is having now but yet she never realizes it.

It's a pity.

+++++ Update +++++

When I thought things will go for the better after she reads what her readers are commenting but I guess I was wrong.

Was just about to close her blog window and realize that there's a new post on her bitching about one of the reader's email and those who comment on the Natural Selection Theory post.

Once again, she's contradicting herself while she claims that she is not. How about double contradiction? And she's been using quite a lot of vulgarities recently. Perhaps she should really take on readers' suggestions to get a "real" job to lead a "real" life.

+++++ Update +++++

Remember I was saying about just how bad my day was?

From getting my period and the possibility of having horrible menstrual cramps right before my Written Genre Examination, to having the invigilator missing out my paper during the collection, and then to walk under the rain only which to realize that there is someone to escort me with umbrella in McDonald's as an added value customer service and finally stepping on the biggest dog poo I've seen ever...

Well, today I can add one more thing to the list.

One of the worst things that can happen to a person is

OH! Damn you lightnings!

Yea, you too!

Laugh your lungs out

There is no better way to brighten up your boring day at work with a good laugh from none other than our Kenny Sia.

I was just reading through his blog entries on his trip to Thailand and boy! He sure knows how to see things from different perspectives and cheers to his unbelievable imagination.

I never thought of this but sure he does!

You know, with all that notoriety Thailand has as Asia's sex capital, I gotta wonder what are odds of Phuket sounding like "Fuck It" and the nation's capital sounding like "Bang Cock".

There's a lot more than this and sure you won't want to miss out this good piece! Let you know just what will happen if Thais speak Hokkien. Gets you ROFLMAO!

Not enough to get tears rolling in your eyes?

Well, this one may not get you laughing till you get asthma attacks but it might just drain those blood outta your nose and pop your eyeballs out~

Funfilled dinner

I was about to blog something when grandma asked me to fry some omelettes for dinner. Well of course, after cooking and everything dinner was set so I went on to have my dinner. Unexpectedly, dinner was a joyious one and I had a great time talking to Anna (my youngest sister, standard 3 this year), who inspired me to write this entry instead of the original one.

Anna sat next to me and while she was struggling to force a big mouthful of pita bread into her small mouth, she proudly asked me about collective nouns she learnt from tuition. The same tuition teacher I had when I was 6 years old.

"Da jie (Big sister in Mandarin), I ask you about collective nouns ok?", said Anna.

"What is collective nouns?", I asked.

"Neh, like a flight of stairs.. those lo", Anna said while shaking her head in disbelief.

"Oh those ar. Those I know", I answered sheepishly.

"A what of soldiers?", Anna began.

"A troop of soldiers?", I tried.

"Wrong! It's a regiment of soldiers", Anna told me while moving her index finger left to right at my face.

"A what of musicians?", Anna challenged me.

"A band of musicians", I answered.

Could not believe that I answered that correctly, Anna continued to challenged me with more collective nouns.

"A what of teachers?"

"A what of atheletes?"

"A what of girls, ladies or beauties?"

"A what of angels?"

She continued to ask many more which some I answered correctly and some I just gave up trying. I felt exhausted trying to answer her and without me noticing, she proceeded to ask me about antonyms already. Phew~! I need a break girl..

I was thinking just how much Anna was learning for her tender age and it brought me back to the time when I had tuition with the same teacher, Mrs. Singh just few streets across. I remembered walking to tuition with my brother every once a week and I dreaded going because my english was so poor at that time I found going to tuition a chore, let alone finishing tuition homework.

Many people were shocked when they learnt that I can speak and write Mandarin because I looked to be an English educated girl. As I always said, looks can be deceiving because little do they know that my English literacy was so bad that I can mispronounced "pilot" and "island".

When I attended my first English tuition lesson, Mrs. Singh showed me a row of words and asked me to read them which included the words "pilot" and "island".

I pronounced,

"pilot" as "Pee-Lot"

"island" as "Is-Land"

Thinking back I can just laugh at myself for hours! Yea, go on, laugh at me! HEHE!

My English never improved because I ended the tuition two years later and continued to speak Mandarin everyday at home and at school (I was Chinese educated throughout primary and secondary school. Primary school at SRJK (C) Chen Moh in PJ Old Town and High School at Catholic High School in PJ Jalan Gasing where Mandarin was compulsory for those from Chinese Primary).

I started reading my first English Novel - Sweet Valley when I was 12 years old. Mom bought the book for me as a present for getting 6As in my UPSR. Sweet Valley High continued to be in my reading list and later R.L. Stein added to the list; but English novels only existed in the list for 1 year before I embarked on reading Mandarin novels.

Only until Form 4 when I was classmate with Karen that I started to speak English again. Karen went to a chinese primary school but for the fact that she is from an English speaking family, she was used to speaking English. We were classmates, together with Shinyi for two years through Form 4 & 5 and I was forced to speak English because Karen and Shinyi are both from English speaking family.

Karen will correct my grammar, for example when I said, "I'm hot" intending to mean that I'm feeling hot. Karen will said right to my face, "No Christine you're not hot at all, you're feeling hot".

With that I slowly learned new words and gained confidence in speaking English in public. Also, I started picking up English books in MPH to read and all of which contributed to my English literacy both spoken and written as of today.

I am still in the process of learning English for better vocabularies because I realize there are still so many words that I cannot understand when I read through books or blogs.

Friendship

YES!

Finally I got back MY rights to get my arse on the pc chair because Grace is still asleep (2:06pm). HAHA! Well, you see, she's one hell of a Korean fanatic who drools over anything Korean. Any Korean characters, actresses, actors, clothings, snacks and instant noodles can get her going like she's gotten sugar rush! - Even though she doesn't understand a thing Korean.

She was working after she got her SPM results and like I mentioned in my earlier post, our house ASTRO has been temporarily suspended (still is) because mom refused to pay the bills for no apparent reason. Thus, she missed one of the Korean soap dramas casting one of her favorite Korean actress, and I also missed many of those football matches! Darn!

She's been bugging me about how much she missed the drama and everyday she got home after work she'll ask, "Has mom paid the bills?"

"Not yet," I said.

And then she found light after a long long tunnel! She found a website where she can download the dramas. Uh-huh. That's right, she downloaded the dramas episode by episode and has then glued herself onto the pc chair forever! She skipped everything, including breakfast, lunch and sometimes dinner just to watch the drama and she sleeps at 3am and wakes up at 3pm.

There were so many things that happened over the weekend that I wished I could blog right at the moment, which I can't so I've written it down in my lovely Guess notebook in case I forgot. Tee he-he.

I got home one day and found that I have a MSN message blinking on the screen. I couldn't recognized the nick but I was surprised to find that the email to the nick was a long long friend I made in mIRC since I was 15. It has been really long since we last spoken to each other because he's in the US Navy and he can only get on MSN when he's on land.

So this time around, he was in Thailand and was online through the hotel they stayed in. The conversation started like the normal "How are you?", "What are you doing now?" sort of thing but then the chat went on smoothly as though the fact that we've lost touch for 2 years wasn't a problem at all. He told me things between him and the gf and the problems of it and I listened and gave him my two cents worth of opinion.

I asked if he has got a camera and I told him I'll trade one picture a day from him for every email I send. He happily agreed because he told me how sucky life on sea could be.

I mean, this is what friendship is all about and how friendship between people should be.

It is not about how much time you spend with each other, or how many secrets you know about each other, or how you can walk into the person's house as though it's yours, or how you can chat with the person's parents as though your own.

Friendship is how you can still love each other even though time set you apart for years. It is how you can still catch up all the things that you've missed about the person and not feel awkward for asking about it. It is about the closeness and warmth you feel. It is about the joy and happiness you get.

Friendship should be light and enjoyable, not a burden or chore.

OMFG

OMFG

I mean people like this actually DO exist? Goodness me! OMFG! I'm soooooo pissed!, early in the morning. I am usually very perky in the morning with occasional running nose but today I"M SO TOTALLY PISSED! You know, that person who got me pissed is in real serious trouble! URGH!

I was awake at 10am despite sleeping only at 3am this morning but I thought I have another 30 minutes more to waste before I have to get up and get ready. Just when I was about to rest my eyes I heard two knocks on my door. Wanting to ignore it and continue sleeping, I just didn't bother to ask what's asking me. I just woke up right, not enough sleep so I can do that right?? RIGHT! Anyway, the knock continues~! Two knocks each time until it became continuous! It was so so so annoying!

Can't someone knock and say, "Hey, someone's looking for you", so at least I know the matter whether I should wake up or not. But no, the maid knock knock knock and knock like she's a blardy damn woodpecker! Then when I finally dragged my body to open my door, she said there's someone at the gate asking me to move my car.

WTF! Wake me up in the morning to MOVE MY CAR?

I went downstairs and saw this fat fuck from my opposite house who WORKS in KimGary because she's wearing the uniform. She just STOOD there! I went out and moved my car back to my house. Okay, firstly, my car was parked at her side of the road because my mom has to reverse her car out in the morning and my car was parked at the gate last night.

The worst thing was, when I went out, she didn't even ask me or talk to me to move the car. She just bloooody STOOD there like some statue permanently glued on the ground! But she won't make a good statue because she's like so FAT!

AND! When I reversed my car, she just stood inside her house trying to pretend that she has something to do.

Guess what she did???

She was there looking at her nails, biting her nails. For Pete's sake! That's so pretentious!

She WAITED until I completely parked my car back at the house, she then use a damn big rubbish bin to block the parking space before she WALKS to work.

CAN YOU BLARDY BELIEVE IT???

WHERE GOT PEOPLE WAKE YOU UP IN THE MORNING ASK YOU TO MOVE YOUR CAR WITHOUT TELLING YOU FACE TO FACE AND STOOD THERE WATCH YOU PARK WHILE BITING HER NAILS ?!?!?!!?!

SEE!

I'm sooooooo pissed!!!

What are neighbours for?? I just park my car there temporarily and I will move it back to my house when I wake up but she can't wait! Whereas, she asked for help from us when she needed it? WTF is that?

PISSED!

I called my mom and asked if she parked the car there and she asked why? What's the problem? So I told her everything and she was pissed as well. She said tonight she'll take that big rubbish bin and throw it away at some MPPJ garbage bin! WAHAHAHAHAHA ~

URGH.

See, I typed this post entirely in 5 minutes when I'm still fuming with anger so those sentences really come out as how I think in my head. Mind me for all the vulgarity. but URGH! pissed wat!!!!

Fucking pissed!

Oh Puh-leezz..!

And so I was reading some blogs when I came across this entry by minishorts.net where she says,

You know it's embarassing to know that the whole world probably now thinks that Malaysians are frogs under coconut shells who go into hiding when the people on television kiss.

Also, I went on to read a news article she linked it in her blog by BBC News. In there, I found this very amusing quote by our dearest Chief Justice Ahmad Fairuz,

Apart from that, also quoted from the news article was,

Malaysia has a Muslim majority, but people of all religions are broadly conservative in their outlook.

I just shook my head after reading it. Goodness gracious me! Since when do Malaysians not accept kissing and hugging in public? In addition, don't go telling the public that people of all religions, including those of Muslim are conservative in their outlook when it is in fact the opposite (most of the time) in reality. I never knew kissing and hugging were a problem because I believe in what I see; and NO, I do not agree that people of all religions in Malaysia are conservative in their outlook.

Firstly, think about it. This news covered the incident which involves a Chinese couple who is under no written laws (at least I think so) that they should not embrace affectionately in public, unless they start hurting or disgusting people. I mean, if it was a Malay couple who was charged then I might be able to comprehend since they are bound by the Syariah Laws.

Hugging and kissing are merely an expression of love which is entirely private between two people who wish to do that. A peek on the cheek or a friendly hug will not cause harm to the public unless you get sore eyes when you see it, or you will go haywire and start jumping into the KLCC park's lake, or even jump off KLCC. Even so! I think that is your personal behaviour which is extremely weird because I think no one behaves like that so maybe you should refrain from going outside. Just stay in door and don't even watch any TV before you start killing yourself at home too!

Drifted. Back to hugging and kissing, which I do often. Somehow I've seen so many Malays, youngsters mostly, kiss their friends (male or female) on the cheek when they see each other. It's like their culture, their in-thing. Ask yourself, have you seen a situation where a Malay girl dresses up very modernly, probably holding a Gucci handbag too, goes into Dome Cafe, sees her friend (male or female) and bends over to kiss the cheek, twice on both cheeks? And and, girls especially who have not seen each other for a long time squeak and hop and "Ahhhh" hug each other and sway for at least about 5 seconds before they let go, look into each other's eyes, titter and then "ahhhh" hug again.

My point is, kissing and hugging IS normal!

Secondly, "people of all religions are broadly conservative in their outlook." Don't bullshit me. I know that Malays or Muslims should cover themselves because they cannot bare any signs of nakedness, be it their arms that's why the Baju Kurung and Tudung. But sometimes I feel that I am even more conservative than those Malays who are required to cover themselves.

I do not step out of my house in spaghetti strap, never, unless with a jacket on and I will never take off my jacket; unless it's something required for an event. And I don't wear tubes, tubes ONLY and match it with punk-inspired checkered miniskirts with fish-nets and silver studded leather wristband or neck choker and paired with PVC boots.

But heck I see malay girls, young malay girls walking around like this in shopping complexes and on the streets. Their clothes are shorter and skimpier than mine!, than most people. They go shopping like this, go colleges like this, go CLUBBING like this. Oh that chief justice should see these before making that stupid remark!

Get out of your box! Malaysians of all and/or any religions are not as conservative as you think they are. See, I'm not siding any religions because there are Chinese who are very open minded and also Malays who are conservative. I'm saying generally that they are not THAT conservative as to not accept kissing and hugging alright. C'mon, they can show you their sexy pierced little belly button, surely they won't mind some kissing and hugging too.

An interesting article, Jurisdiction of State Authorities to punish offences against the precepts of Islam: A Constitutional Perspective by Prof. Dr. Shad Saleem Faruqi, Professor of Law and Legal Adviser to Universiti Teknologi MARA.

"...Perhaps the question whether or not laws should be used to uphold morality through direct prohibition is better dealt with on the basis of a calculus rather than on a simple formula like `harm to others’... Whatever test one adopts it is clear that in legal ideology it is not possible to set theoretical limits on the power of the state to regulate private conduct...Alternative approaches to the enforcement of morality can be explored..."

***** The amount of time I spent writing this entry is enough for me to write two or more entries in English! My Mandarin is really getting very bad. *****

One more thing

before I forget,

Today (19th April 2006) could be one of the worse days I have thus far,

I had my last exam paper, which is a good thing but prior entering the exam hall, I went to the washroom and discovered that I hit jackpot! Knowing that I will suffer terrible pain I prayed hard that it won't start until the end of the exam. I brought my nurofen with me but I haven't eaten anything in the morning and it is unadvisable to take any medication with empty stomach.

So that's one of the bad thing. The most dreadful thing. To have my period during exam!

But thank goodness the pain only started after I finished.

And can you imagine! The invigilator missed my paper during the collection. I know, I can't imagine as well. We were seated in rows and he collects the paper one by one and he missed mine! How great.

I ended up sitting there waving my paper in a blardy big hall hoping that other invigilators may notice. Mind you, I waved seriously long before I got noticed. Damn!

That's the second. No it didn't stop there.

It started raining when YH and I had lunch in McD and I had to run under the rain to get my car, only to know that McDonald's in Cheras provide such good customer service that a staff will actually hold a umbrella for you to escort you to your car. URGH! !#$#$%*&%$

That's the third.

Yes, when bad things happen to you, it just keeps on going!

I STEPPED ON A BLARDY BIG PILE OF DOG'S POO IN FRONT OF YH'S HOUSE!

I didn't even notice that I stepped on it until I felt something slippery and when I looked at it, good Lord! It was like the BIGGEST pile of dog poo I've ever seen!

It was so BIG, I started to think it was COW'S DUNG instead!!

Sorry to disgust you, it was still fresh and it has two shades of brown! My foot aimed so well I didn't step just partially of it, I stepped RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE!!

Like I said, this shit is real big and it all sticked under my sandal/slipper.

GROSS, I know. Try thinking I was the one...

But no panic, I washed it away under running water and that marks the FORTH and the WORST incident of my day. Period pain didn't even come close.

As a sidenote, I think I'm addicted to blogging. I have so many things and ideas running in my head now..

And of course, I'm going to announce that

I AM OFFICIALLY ON HOLIDAYS!!! ---- until 2nd May though

That gives me ample time to blog all I want, so stay tuned for MORE!

Fashion Flavours...

@ Sunway Pyramid, 14-16 April 2006

Photoblog

Sunway Pyramid just held its somewhat annual (according to me) Fashion Show at the Concourse Level and Grace (my sister) snapped some photos with her friend's digital camera.

Brands participated in the Fashion Show included:

1) Dr. Cardin
2) Echo Park
3) Trenone
4) Polo Haus
5) Suzuya
6) Esprit
7) A Cut Above
8) Miss Selfridge
9) Subzero Jeans
10) Nicole mNJ & Nic
11) Topshop / Topman
12) Levi's
13) Snips Hairdressing Group
14) Zero Hour

It was however unfortunate that I missed the Fashion Show. Couldn't remember where I went precisely for that particular 3 days. Anyhow, as I mentioned, Grace snapped the following pictures with her friend digital camera, an Olympus u700 All-weather. A total greenhorn in photography, Grace took pictures of the models either by the knees or at the ankle which make the pictures frustratingly incomplete! Although she took quite a lot of pictures, wanting to fully utilize the 512 MB memory card but "real" pictures that look good only make up to a few. Besides, the runway design was so weird that when models stand at a certain place, the lighting is so insufficient and the pictures turned out dark!

I've selected a few among the load and photoshopped it for better viewing. These pictures are taken by a total amateur and also photoshopped by another amateur - me. Sorry if the end results turned out to be of dissatisfactory standard...

Sneak preview at 4:30pm

The following images in no particular order because neither Grace nor I can tell the different dates..

This model is the best looking among the bunch (Chinese at least) and I like her so much you'll see quite many of her. Hehe! Can't help it..

This model look kinda weird but the longer I looked at her, the better she feels to me.

However unfortunately, I cannot apply the same to this next model. I seriously do NOT understand how she can qualify to be a model with that kind of face! I'm not saying I'm pretty at all but.. Models right?

Like.... WOT ?!

I was checking my friendster just now and noticed I have new messages. This is what I got,

Image hosting by Photobucket

I do not have a single clue as to what he says, "Wanna add everyone like to pig pig in my list".

I beg your pardon! Do you mean pig pig as in eating like a pig? or sleeping like a pig?

But no, I'm not interested to join your pig farm. Not the normal pig too, it's babi hutan!!

I have serious doubt in my forest surviving skills, thanks..

Stupid maxis!

I just got a call from a malay lady, asking to rent a room. I don't have a house of my own let alone renting one out so I immediately told her she got the wrong number. I asked her where did she get my number and she said she saw this paper in Section 10 and she read the number out, which is MINE!

I have no idea how my number ended up there. This is not the first time. I've gotten so many "wrong numbers" before, wrong phonecalls, wrong sms! In fact, I got 3 wrong numbers just today!! There was this one time when I got a series of sms' from a malay lady telling her loverboy that her husband is back home and he should stop calling her for a while. There was also another time when a malay girl sent sms to her sister begging for forgiveness after cheating with the brother-in-law.

Don't ask me! I also don't understand why all the messages that I've got are those from Malay ladies "confessing" that they have/are cheated/cheating their husbands. Sigh. I don't want to know that and sometimes I was thinking should I sms the ladies that she got the wrong number so she can re-sms to the correct number. Bah...!

Maxis just recently sent an sms saying that I have to register my number and I haven't do that yet, is this the cause of the matter?

What if my number is misused to do some illegal stuffs and then I will be presented with court order and be sentenced to life imprisonment!! Or is misused to make foreign calls and then I will be charged with RM806 trillion ringgit!!

Treasure Hunt

Just finished watching National Treasure, again, for the third time, really. But it never fails to fascinate me. All those encryptions, riddles, clues and the process of it is just mind blowing!

I remembered grewing up easily fascinated by stuffs like this. Watching National Geographic channel looking at those archaeologist digging through miles and miles deep of land searching for something. Watching them slowly brushing off dust on a piece of delicate prehistoric object and finally learning the development of past human history.

There are the ancient Egypts temples, tombs and mummies, China's Emperor Qin Shi Huang's mausoleums and many other artifacts... Amazing isn't it?

Well, it's always great to be able to listen to historical stories and be captivated by it but history is definitely not a subject one should pursue without extreme passion. Years back then when I was really young I dreamt of being like one of those archaelogists I watched on Discovery or National Geographic channels but of course it was just a dream. A dream to be able to lay my hands, first, on something that just got unearthed after thousands and millions of years. Wow, that feeling must be spellbinding!

After watching National Treasure, immediately I have this feeling that it has a huge similarity with the storyline of Dan Brown's "Da Vinci Code".

Then it struck me, I can't wait to watch Tom Hank's performance as John Langdon in Da Vinci Code coming out in May 2006! I love the book and I'm sure I'll totally love the movie too!

No nothing!

Had Advertising paper yesterday and my next paper will be on 19th April 2006, leaving me 7 days of no ASTRO at home!

The agony of not having ASTRO is beyond words! Mom didn't pay the last statement and her maybank2u was not accessible when I tried to pay it. Now it's all up to her to write a cheque so I can go to a post office to bring back the entertainment.

I know 8TV also not bad right?

But the worst thing is, my house don't have antennas! So we cannot watch RTM1, RTM2, TV3, NTV7 or 8TV. Can you imagine? Don't bother trying...

I'm running out of DVDs to watch too, HAHA!

Maybe I should go dig out some real old ones and start watching them and then write more reviews!

Just watched Walk The Line last night and wrote the review right after, might watch it again. I didn't really enjoy it last night because I have to tune the volume down since grandma was asleep.

Was suppose to go KL ING headquater for my costume measurement for the upcoming event but it was postponed till further notice. Sigh.

Thought of heading to KLCC after ING for some book shopping spree since it was a long time ago when I last bought books. The 12 books I bought from the last spree have been read and reread at least twice! I need books... I'm so-nine-months pregnant with hunger and thirst for books!

No ASTRO, No antennas, No new DVDs, No new books, No petrol, what am I going to do?

Play the piano.... that will at least kill an hour or so...

And then..

Find more food to eat...

And then..

Find old DVDs...

And then..

Blog more!

Walk The Line (2005)

Director: James Mangold
Writing Credits:
- Based on the books "The Man In Black" and "Cash: An Autobiography" by Johnny Cash
- Written by Gill Dennis, James Mangold
Language: English
Running time: 136 mins
MPAA: Rated PG-13 for some language, thematic material and depiction of drug dependency

Warning!: Plot / Spoiler

This movie shows how Johnny Cash (Joaquin Phoenix) inventing himself. He grew up in a hard-working family on an Arkansas Cotton farm in the Great Depression, listening to country music on the radio, especially the Carter family. He is very close to his elder brother Jack, who dies in an accident involving a table saw in 1944 when Johnny was out fishing. His guilt taunts him alongside with the blame his hard-drinking father (Robert Patrick) places on him saying that, "The devil took the wrong son", "He was my best and now he's gone!".

So it comes as a welcome escape when he's old enough to join the Air Force and was sent to Germany. During his time at the Air Force, inspired by the film he sees there, Inside the Walls of Folsom Prison (1951), he composes a song "Folsom Prison Blues". Leaving the Air Force, Johnny marries and tries to succeed as a door-to-door salesperson in Memphis.

Nevertheless, his heart is in music and he succeeds with an audition with the legendary Sam Phillips (Dallas Roberts). Soon Johnny is touring together with Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis and meets June Carter (Reese Witherspoon). Although they are drawn to each other but they marry others. Touring takes a toll on Johnny's marriage and he becomes addicted to amphetamines. His marriage fails and Johnny is finally busted with drug trafficking and spends some time in jail. His father who has been looking down on him all these while, "Now you won't have to work so hard to make people think you been to jail."

Although eventually his father does sober up but the family that saves him was June's. Reading fan letters from prisoners inspires Johnny to perform a concert and records live at Folsom Prison. "A Folsom Prison" became one of the most popular recordings of al time, outselling even the Beatles in year 1968.

Plot / Spoiler Ends

"Walk The Line" follows the story of many other musical biopics, probably because many careers are the same: Hard times, obscurity, success, stardom, too much money, romance, booze and drugs and then beating the addiction, finding love and finally reaching a more lasting stardom.

It is a great movie because of the good casting. Joaquin Phoenix plays Johnny Cash wonderfully and Reese Witherspoon's performance was brilliant. She very well deserved her Oscar for Best Actress. The film is long but it was worth every minute of it. The best part of the movie is that, Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon sang every note of the songs themselves. Somehow I think Joaquin Phoenix sings better than Johnny Cash but anyhow this movie chronicles the life of the legendary Johnny Cash and it's all worth the time and tears.

It is a very touching and real story. The love Johnny and June shared was beautiful as they finally got married when June accepts Johnny's proposal on stage during a concert. They spent 35 years of they life together as husband and wife with son John Carter Cash, touring the world playing great music.

June Carter Cash passed on 15th May 2003, aged 74. Four months later on 12th September 2003, Johnny followed at age 71.

A great story of its own with greater performance by two strong casts. Watch and be touched by Reese Witherspoon and Joaquin Phoenix who have brought the stories of Johnny Cash and June Carter to life.

Racial Discrimination in Malaysia

Got this forwarded email from Zoe.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

List of racial discriminations in here practiced by government as well as government agencies. This list is an open secret. Best verified by government itself because they got the statistics.

This list is not in the order of importance.

This list is a common knowledge to a lot of Malaysians, especially those non-malays (Chinese, Ibans, Kadazans, Orang Asli, Indians, etc) who were being racially discriminated.

Figures in this list are estimates only and please take it as a guide only. Government of Malaysia has the most correct figures. Is government of Malaysia too ashamed to publish their racist acts by publishing racial statistics?

(13) 80% of the Chinese rice millers in Kedah had to be sold to malay controlled Bernas in 1980s. Otherwise, life is make difficult for Chinese rice millers.
