"I want to buy him dinner"

I went to my mom and tried my luck asking her to write a cheque to settle my semester's tuition fee which was long overdue.
She said she doesn't have the amount I needed in her current account for now.
She asked me when is the latest I need to pay up, and I said next Monday; which was a lie because it was due at least 2 weeks ago.

2 weeks ago I tried asking her and she did the few small little actions that I predicted.
First, she ignored me.
Second, she ignored me again.
Third, she said she doesn't have that amount in the account.

After a few long seconds of silence, I just stood there waiting for her to confirm if she will write me the cheque latest by next monday.
More silence.
I broke it by saying, "So I'll ask you again next Monday la ok?"
And she mumbled something that sounded like, "I don't have the money now la.."

Just before I wanted to step out of her room, she suddenly asked.
"What's Adrian's phone number?"

I froze and my mind went blank for a while.
"Who's number?", I thought.

She repeated her question, "What's Adrian's number?"

It is so freaky for her to suddenly ask for my boy's number so I asked her what is her intention of wanting it?

"Just give me his number la."
"Why do you need it for?"
"I want to buy him dinner." [Huh?? Try harder..]

I just stood there staring at her long and hard. My brain went racing thinking of the multiple possibilities on why and what she would do with Adrian's number.

I turned my sight and looked at Grace who was sitting at the desk doing her assignment. Grace lip read what I was trying to tell her.

"Why she suddenly want his number?"
Grace responded and I lip read, "I also don't know."
"So freaky wan.. Should I give or what?"
"No, don't bother."

Just right at this time, mom turned and looked at me asking me once again, "Are you going to give me Adrian's number?"

She asked in such manner as though demanding me for it. Her tone suggested that I should give it to her.

I braved myself and said to her, "No. You're asking in such a weird manner, I won't give it to you."

"No? Fine then." She stood from her bed and walked away.

I left her room.

Grace texted me the conversation she had with mom just right after I left the room.

"Why do you want the number for? Why suddenly ask for it?"
"What suddenly? Just want to treat him dinner ma."
"Why? You're very close with him meh? You don't even talk to him, why suddenly the treat?"
"No reason. Why cannot treat him dinner?"
"But why suddenly want to buy him dinner?"
"Why cannot? I ask for his number but she doesn't give, she ask for money I must give la?"

The last sentence of the conversation is totally disturbing. What relevance is there between the two??
None at all! One is me asking for tution fee, for me to go one step closer to completing my degree. Another is something so outrageous and weird and freaky.
I see no relevance.

I don't even know what I should think of after this incident. Should I be worried? Should I be prepared for all the actions that she is bound to do to make life harder for me?



P/S: I think she reads my blog.
P/P/S: I have yet to blog about how she has changed, for the worse, after attending some cult-like seminar call Asiaworks. I googled it and I had bad reviews that send shivers down my spine just by reading them. If you want to know about it, just google it. I'll blog about it later.
